about welborne garden village

Located between the South Downs national Park and the Hampshire coastline, Welborne is a regionally significant strategic development, envisioned as a garden village of the 21st Century combining the best of town and country. Grounded on the principles of place-making, quality design and creation of a thriving community, Welborne will be a sustainable new settlement combining housing, employment, schools, shops and local facilities within at attractive, walkable and leafy environment.

Our vision is to create a well-planned, well-designed place that is built to last. The focus is on placemaking to enable the creation of a strong sense of community where people can put down roots for the long term.

Around 50% of the development will be green space – with woodlands, public parks, green commons, gardens, sports pitches and playgrounds – all interconnected by a network of cycle routes and footpaths and protected in perpetuity.

Creating local employment and new opportunities for small to large businesses at Welborne – up to 115,000sqm of retail and business space.

Social infrastructure to support the growing community – one secondary and three primary schools, sports and leisure facilities, health facilities, playgrounds and community halls.
